An Abhorrent weapon I submitted to Nobilis 3rd edition.
The background unfortunately didn't make it into the final piece, but I thought I might put the full picture here.

I added the spiral grooves, because weapon-wise, they made sense - more angles means more pressure per area. Also, they made the different parts of the weapon nicely distinguishable.
If I had any sense, though, I would have made a 3D representation of the thing beforehand, so I could have a reference for drawing them.

...So is it just me, or does it kinda look like something
from a "Magical Girl" anime?
